Senior team leader of a 5-person investment team that manages ~$12.5 billion (18% long-term target) of TRS’s Real Assets (real estate and other real assets) portfolio. TRS’s overall investment portfolio across all asset classes is roughly ~$84 billion in AUM. In my position, I oversee/lead the real estate portfolio which represents 14% (78%) of the total Real Assets portfolio. TRS’s separate account portfolio consists of roughly $5 billion of net market value of diversified commercial real estate investments. I also identify, manage, and monitor another $5 billion in real estate commingled fund investments, so in total manage over $10 billion in real estate investments. During my 17.5+ years at TRS, I have underwritten multiple billions of dollars in new direct separate account investments and commingled fund underwrites for new commercial real estate investments. I also co-led the buildout for the Other Real Assets portfolio (infrastructure - representing 4% of the real assets portfolio ) beginning in 2018 and have led or participated in all fund underwrites representing roughly $3B in new capital commitments in the past 8+ years. My performance attribution for direct investments and fund underwrites in real estate and infrastructure has been very strong resulting in profitable returns for the overall TRS portfolio which helps secure pension payments for retirees.

Part of a 3-person real asset team that manages and makes investments for the ~$12.5 billion (net market value) commercial real estate and real asset portfolio on behalf of the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois. My position involves the identification and oversight of separate accounts and commingled funds. The total plan has assets of $65+ billion. Real estate and real assets have a long-term target of 18% of the total plan.
