A nucleic acid process scientist who is committed to science and manufacturing of RNA drug substance. Current research at Beam therapeutics aims to establish a rigorous and high quality process for the synthesis of modified gRNA. Doctoral research aims to elucidate the mechanistic details of nonenzymatic RNA copying, a chemistry-driven process which has been hypothesized to mediate the evolution of functional ribozymes (RNA enzymes) from a pool of randomized RNA strands. Skilled at solid phase RNA synthesis, nucleotide, peptide and heterocyclic chemistry, mechanism-based analogue design, liquid chromatographic methods, NMR and mass spectroscopies, and binding affinity assays.
