I had been blessed by being elected to the staff nurse position on the North Carolina Board of Nursing. I am truly humbled by the support I received from my friends, colleagues, and peers. I served from January 2015 through April 1 2017. I took a new position at a new hospital and unfortunately, it disqualified me from finishing the term I was elected to. I am truly grateful for my time serving the public on the NCBON and look forward to future endeavors with them doing so!

Served as Lee County representative of the Governor’s Task Force for Healthy Carolinians. Developed, implemented and reported community health assessment of Lee County. Published assessment and distributed among various public and private media outlets. Authored numerous health articles published in local media outlets. Was monthly guest on morning radio talk show to discuss health topics related to Lee County residents and answered call-in questions. Instructed other state and county representatives on processes used to perform a large scale community health assessment in seminar environment.Performed community health assessment according to the NC govenor's Healthy People 2010 task force guidelines. Educated additional counties on methods utilized to perform community health assessments and using Microsoft Excel software to display/express data.

Supervised care in a level II emergency department in a rural setting. Transferred patients to tertiary level care facilities. Performed numerous involuntary commitments and arranged for transfer to various psychiatric facilities in North Carolina. Performed as a forensic nurse examiner by assisting local and state law enforcement agencies with evidence collection. Performed staff evaluations. Educated staff on facility policies and current standards of care. Assisted management with quality improvement initiatives. Supervised nursing and ancillary staff. Completed employee evaluations. Assisted with hiring process of prospective applicants.
