Scientific projects • Constructed TALEN plasmids using Golden Gate assembly to achieve targeted chromosomal modifications through plasmid-based homologous recombination for a genome editing project in E. intestinalis (microsporidia). • Maintained Vero cell cultures infected with E. intestinalis and assisted in the propagation and purification of microsporidia spores for transfection experiments. • Performed DNA delivery via nucleofection and yeast transformation and assessed transfection efficiency through confocal microscopy imaging. Laboratory Management • Managed lab inventory, ordering, restocking, and organizing supplies to ensure continuity and efficiency of research. • Negotiated pricing, placed orders, tracked deliveries, and addressed discrepancies with vendors and Bio-Purchasing. • Oversaw the disposal of chemical and biological waste, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards. • Coordinated onboarding/offboarding of lab members, ensuring access to necessary tools and accounts. • Trained and supervised undergraduate students, ensuring task completion and adherence to lab protocols. • Enforced lab safety protocols, scheduled training, and maintained compliance during safety inspections and audits.
