I fabricate super cool photonic integrated circuits using the ultra low-loss Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) waveguide platform for applications in areas such as quantum computing and telecommunication just to name a few. My responsibilities entails transitioning R&D prototypes to full scale production, process development and optimization for cycle time reduction and yield improvement. My area of focus is mainly in the fabrication of the BEOL process of the devices. As both engrossing & challenging as it is, the satisfaction of my role comes from being able to produce working devices for our customers who are at the forefront of building the technology of tomorrow. My previous experience in the photonics industry was back in 2020 where I joined DenseLight Semiconductors fresh out of my Masters Degree as a process engineer. Working in an Indium phosphide (InP) wafer fabrication cleanroom, I was responsible for all the metal & dielectric deposition processes required for fabricating the BEOL of the optoelectronic devices (SLED, ELED, DFB lasers etc). Since joining Ligentec SA, I have enhanced my skillset outside the realms of thin film deposition and into the other exciting aspects of wafer fabrication namely in photolithography and wet & dry etching. In addition to that, integrating those components into a seamless, cohesive and efficient manufacturing workflow.
