Bridge the Gap Foundation (BTG), a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is on a mission to bridge the skills gap by providing specialized welding education to disadvantaged groups, including transitioning soldiers and veterans. Our impactful programs have successfully trained and certified over 2,500 individuals, reinforcing our commitment to enhancing the career prospects of veterans and their families. Graduates from our programs are poised to achieve certification as American Welding Society Certified Welders (CW), a respected Industry Based Certification (IBC) acknowledged throughout the industry. Our expert-led training initiatives are spearheaded by a team of seasoned professionals, including an American Welding Society Certified Welding Educator (CWE), multiple Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI), professionals with American Society of Nondestructive Testing Level III (ASNT Level III) certification, and Certified Welders (CW), ensuring an exceptional level of instruction and proficiency.

Responsible for managing an educational program for transitioning soldiers from Fort Polk, LA. This program was the first of its kind with higher education, the military and business and industry working together for training. First and second cohorts successfully passed all required weld test - ASME Structural weld test. Supported the development of course curriculum and syllabus to conform to Bechtel welding standards – this includes, and is not limited to: Development of daily lesson plans, training program (classroom and lab training), course material, content, program structure, test tracking and standards. Implemented and oversaw weld tests/assessments for prospective program participants Provided classroom training and hands on shop testing/evaluation. Prepared and provided all lecture, laboratory and clinical instruction according to defined curriculum. Followed course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program Maintained a lesson plan of daily instructional events. Served on committees (e.g., curriculum development, retention, etc.) as assigned, based upon expertise. Monitored student attendance/retention and document as required by the administration. Responsible for reporting program and performance evaluations to management.

Project Quality Management over an AP 1000 Supplier Ensured Inspection and testing of materials received and ensured established requirements were satisfied and documented.   Ensured effective communications of Contract, Specification, and Code (CB&I, Westinghouse, NRC, AWS, ASTM, ASME, and NQA-1) requirements to project personnel to adequately identify and Document Non-Conformances and promote First Time Quality.  Reviewed applicable Final Electronic Data Packages to Ensure Contract, Specification, and Code requirements were satisfied with Components prior to shipping.  Certified Conformance and applicable ITAACs in accordance with NRC standards for a Components prior to shipping  Developed in-process inspection criteria at various stages of the process and monitored performance and Procedure Adherence.  Reviewed Quality Control Inspectors certification to ensure adequate resources were available for the Project assigned  Reviewed applicable WPSs and PQRs along with Ensuring Welders were Qualified In Accordance With Contract, Specification, and Code requirements.   Reviewed and approved all work packages (travelers) associated with Project assigned.  Maintained a supplier deviation log for all non-conforming parts received so supplier quality performance can be rated to assure supplier certification compliance.   Ensured that NCR’s for in-process, incoming, and final inspection were maintained, published and trended monthly.   Performed Engineering design reviews. Accepted or recommends improvement actions on drawings and procedures.
