Developing and utilizing BIM for the mechanical systems in AWS datacenters.

• Mastered and utilizing new workflows for generating LOD 400 fabrication BIM models and isometric drawings from LOD 300-350 design models, 3D scans, P&IDs, and project specifications for over 60k ft of pipe for low temperature chilled water, process hot water, process cooling water, natural gas, deionized water, compressed air, and storm drainage systems that are being installed in the Tesla Gigafactory. • Configured Revit MEP fabrication service profiles to match project specifications for the above BIM models

• Provided HVAC design, BIM modeling, 3D scanning, and energy analytical services on a contractual basis. • Created energy models for 14 large hyperscale data centers resulting in 2 platinum, 11 gold, and 1 LEED certifications. Submitted 3 of the models for utility incentives and received approx. $2 million in incentives for the client based on expected energy savings.

• Creating fabrication (LOD 400) and as-built (LOD 500) BIM models from design models (LOD 300) of hydronic and process piping in the Austin Tesla Gigafactory.

• Performed engineering services for optimizing the capacity and energy efficiency of data centers. • Provided energy analysis for 21 large hyperscale data centers resulting in 11 gold, and an additional 15 anticipated gold LEED certifications. • Contributed to the development of 3D scanning to BIM to analytics workflows for generating as-built documentation or verifying as-designed BIM models. • Trained and mentored 6 incoming engineers and interns all of whom joined as full-time engineers in training.

• Utilized BIM, energy analysis, and CFD to design high performance data centers.

• Built BIM models to generate automated Bills of Materials (BoM) spreadsheet for structured cabling. • Teamed with in-house developers to create BIM based workflows connected to custom built database visualization tools resulting in a 2x to 8x increase in productivity of the data center design team when performing cluster planning of server racks.

• Developed energy analysis features for the Revit platform and Green Building Studio (GBS) web service. • Contributed to the development of auto generating thermal zones in Revit models for energy analysis. Patent US9223906B2.

• Performed energy analysis for retail, commercial office, multi-residential, mixed use, and mission critical facilities ranging in size from 25,000 sq. ft. to 5 million sq. ft. and received 4 gold and 1 LEED certification. • Designed high performance HVAC building systems for a retail store and a fitness center receiving gold LEED certification and silver equivalent respectively. • Developed workflow for generating building geometry in Revit to be used for energy analysis reducing modeling time by 50%.
