Consulted and then requested by Lt. Governor Wilder if I would consider running the bank. The major stockholder offered position that day and I tentatively accepted contingent upon FDIC's approval. Because of pending lawsuit, the major stockholder was unable to raise capital. I was able to keep the bank open to celebrate its 100th anniversary in September 2002 before FDIC officially closed it shortly afterwards. FDIC kept me on to manage the loan portfolio in order to maximize the sale, found refinancing at other banks or to collect as much as possible for the client to pay loan in full.
