I was responsible for the overall design and layout for four monthly publications published by Spotlight Media—Fargo Monthly, Bison Illustrated, Design & Living and Stride Magazine—with content ranging from sports to lifestyle to regional interest stories. I worked with contributors, editors and photographers to direct the visual development of articles. In addition to designing a significant portion of each month’s editorial content, I managed a group of designers and interns who completed the remaining work. I worked on a tight deadline and communicated directly with printers to ensure a high production quality.

What started as a front desk job at a local hotel blossomed into an opportunity to hone my skills with a developing business. My vast list of responsibilities ranged from pool maintenance to crisis control and I took pride in being able to manage any situation that arose. During my time at the once “Settle Inn & Suites”, which successfully changed names to “Arbuckle Lodge” in late 2012, I designed numerous print and web advertisements and informational materials for guests at the hotel. I was also part of a front desk team that saw consistent gains in revenue on a monthly basis and won numerous hospitality industry awards.

I performed a wide range of tasks for this high-volume photography studio—ranging from booking appointments, staging and photographing children and adult subjects, and conducting purchasing appointments. I was proud of the rapport I created with clients and consistently met my monthly sales goals.

Working directly with professors and scientists in academia from across the country, I manage every aspect of ongoing print projects that specifically involve science lab manuals and text books. I communicate efficiently with authors to ensure accuracy and clarity within their publications, as well as managing deadlines and expectations. I lay out content by utilizing styles, scripts and shortcuts to create a uniform and attractive flowing layout that is quickly formatted. I illustrate medical and scientific figures to accompany text and other content within publications. I work with print vendors to ensure that publications will be produced in a quality manner and delivered to college bookstores across the country before classes begin.
