Amer Obeid

Amer F. Obeid is the founding and managing partner of Obeid & Medawar Law Firm LLP, with offices in Abu Dhabi, Manama, and Beirut. With a Bachelor of Law and Master’s in Political Science from Université Saint-Joseph, he specialized in Banking & Financial Law, Arbitration, and Islamic Finance, earning degrees from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and ESA Business School, and completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD. Since 2003, he has served as legal counsel to the Lebanese Parliament and, since 2007, to the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR). He has also advised the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy & Trade, playing a key role in drafting financial market laws, consumer protection acts, and municipal electricity regulations. Amer advises banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, corporations, and high-net-worth individuals across the Middle East. His expertise extends to Africa and emerging markets, structuring large-scale concessions in banking, telecom, border security, infrastructure, power generation, and gaming. He negotiates with government authorities and facilitates cross-border partnerships. He is highly experienced in M&A, wealth management, and corporate structuring, assisting funds, financial institutions, and investment firms across multiple jurisdictions. His expertise in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) regulations makes him a key advisor in business formation, fund structuring, and regulatory compliance. A seasoned litigator and arbitrator, he represents clients in Lebanese courts and international arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICSID, and OHADA. He also enforces arbitral awards against public and private entities, including sovereigns, and is an accredited mediator with CEDR. To expand his firm’s services, Amer founded Assiss LTD in 2023, offering corporate structuring, fiduciary, and compliance services globally. Beyond law, he is committed to cultural and philanthropic initiatives in the UAE, helping structure public welfare associations. He is also engaged in the art sector, earning a Diploma in Art Management and supporting artists, collectors, and institutions in estate planning, copyright protection, and legacy preservation. Amer serves on multiple cultural and artistic boards and regularly contributes articles and insights to platforms like Legal 500 and Chambers.
