Aurora is a private hospital provider of 1500 inpatient beds and 2800 staff across 16 specialist hospitals nationwide after the sale of its Surgical business and Healthe Care brand in October 2021. As CIO, my focus was to separate the Surgical business and find ways to innovate in the areas of care delivery and business services with a reduced budget.

Managing a network of 34 hospitals and 6000 staff for a hospital group with a turnover of $700m, this role included a pivot from an outsourced to an insourced IT model (from 2 to 14 FTE) while maintaining the IT budget ($14m opex) and improving services to staff and doctors.  Managing all aspects of IT corporate systems, clinical systems support for hospital inpatients and 3rd party doctors using practice management systems.

As IT Infrastructure Manager, I reported directly to the CIO. As part of a newly outsourced IT department, I managed internal and outsourced projects with partners and vendors.

Healthe Care IT was founded just six months before I assumed the role. During my time as National IT Manager, the business saw growth from 5 to 15 Hospitals and, with it, the rapid expansion of IT services. I was responsible for all technology across the Hospital group and service delivery to all staff.
