McDonnell Bros Ltd is a Grain and Agricultural merchant In Fermoy Co Cork. McDonnell Bros was started on 1st January 1977 as a small seed & agro chemical company by the brothers Denis & John McDonnell. Over the next 5 years it gradually got into animal feeds & fertilizers, polythene etc and grain buying and processing including assembling Malting Barley for the then Malting Company of Ireland. It started manufacturing animal feeds in 1982, it gradually grew from an initial turnover of ½ million to being a sizeable agricultural merchants. It acquired its base in Saleen, Midleton in 1988 and further acquired its base in Glanworth in 1992. Animal feeds, fertilisers and grain buying became more important for the company as time went on to today where it is a significant player in these markets. Today the company is one of the biggest independent Agri suppliers in Munster with a base of over 3000 farmer customers. The company prides itself on good service, integrity with customers and suppliers and competitiveness. The directors of the company today are Denis McDonnell, John McDonnell & Colm Griffin. It employs over 30 people.
