Most people think Aluminium Composite Panels (ACP) are simply aluminium sheets used on buildings.They are not.ACP is a composite facade material and its fire behaviour depends on three critical factors: the core composite formulation, the facade system assembly, and the testing and certification framework.Over the past two decades working in the ACP industry, I have seen the same misunderstandings repeated across projects. Across many markets, cladding materials are still specified based on labels, marketing claims, or cost decisions rather than understanding how materials behave within a complete facade system.In some markets the response to facade fire incidents has been to avoid ACP completely and move toward solid aluminium or other materials.
