Zilahatou Bahari-Tohon

I have a large experience in epidemiological studies and worked in various settings. After the completion of my MD, I worked as co-investigator on a clinical trial testing the efficacy and safety of a candidate vaccine against schistosomiasis. As research assistant, I worked closely with the head of the epidemiology unit at a Nigerien medical research center and became experienced in planning, carrying out and analyzing epidemiological surveys in the field of schistosomiasis, of HIV and of meningitis. I have coordinated several field studies and have the capacity to work with and lead people, which had been part of my duties as responsible of the project assessing the efficacy of the Niger Schistosomiasis National Control Program (planning and coordinating field studies, budgeting). I have developed relationships with clinical researchers as well as community leaders during my years as PI and co-Investigators with several projects funded by the International Network of Pasteur Institutes, the Gates Foundation as well as the Wellcome Trust.

My master thesis was titled: "Exposed and non exposed study on the frequency, nature and description of bacterial meningitis sequelae"
