Postdoctoral associate
Established mRNA tagging method for isolating mRNA from specific tissue in Drosophila. Identified six novel photoreceptor-specific genes that may be critical in visual function. Identified genes responsible for ethanol sensitivity in Drosophila by microarray.

Postdoctoral associate
Expressed taste receptors (T1R11,2,3) in E. coli, insect cell and mammalian cells. Demonstrated that these receptors are glycosylated and can form homo- and heterodimers. Biochemical study of G-protein coupled receptor by trypsin protection, GTPgammaS binding in cell lines and primary pineal gland cell culture.
Education

Molecular Genetics
Established a system that opened the door for the molecular study of Dunaliella salina, a green alga that is the most halotolerant eukaryote. The system consists of four parts. (1) A high-efficiency solid culture method for the wall-less alga. (2) Genetic transformation of the alga by electroporation. (3) Genomic DNA and cDNA libraries. (4) A novel gene family of carbonic anhydrase.
