Laboratory of Prof. Gregory Stephanopoulos • Characterized the metabolic functions of hexokinase isoforms using CRISPR/Cas9, 'omics technologies, isotope labeling techniques, and metabolic flux analysis in collaboration with Whitehead Institute • Identified the differential subcellular localizations of hexokinase isoforms using differential centrifugation, western blotting and enzymatic assay • Demonstrated the role of cytosolic hexokinase in supporting faster cancer cell growth through promoting glycolysis, reductive glutamine utilization, fatty acid synthesis and NADPH regeneration • Findings may guide the design of cytosolic HK inhibitors and combination therapies targeting multiple synergistic metabolic pathways for cancer treatment • Supervised a new graduate student for 1 year; mentored 6 undergraduates in 2 research projects for 1 semester • Deliverables: 2 conferences, 2 co-authored publication, 1 first-author manuscript in preparation
