Most responsibilities in this job was performed in emergency context that include investigation and reporting of violation of human rights issues such as domestic violence, forceful eviction from IDP camps, probing and reporting malpractices in relief distribution by relevant government and non-government authorities. Attending cluster group meetings and assisting Protection Officer in designing trainings for strengthening the capacity of MERLIN, national and international staff of humanitarian agencies and Government departments to understand and address the specific protection needs of older people. Moreover, undertaking regular field trips to field sites, IDPs camps and areas of origin to gather disaggregated baseline data related to social protection of older persons. As a Protection Monitor, I also had to flag older people protection issues and propose possible interventions through program development.
