Projects: 1. Robot Range Extender: Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Hybirds • Develop a temperature dependent electrochemistry model to capture cell performance of SOFC using COMSOL • Simulate a transient thermal degradation model of SOFC including cracks and voltage drop for obtaining optimization model data • Propose design improvements and address potential failure by analyzing transient multi-physics models of a SOFC stack, including Heat transfer module, Solid mechanics module, Fluid mechanics module and 2D electrochemistry module • Investigate a new power split cost function by adding SOFC and battery and extend a fuel control strategy 2.Thermal model and control of 24 volts’ battery cells • Develop a thermal model of an eight cell battery pack as multi-inputs system and linearize the model to capture temperature dynamics • Verify the thermal model using experimental data at different SOC stages inside Simulink environment • Created equivalent battery circuits model and used coulomb counting method to match SOC performance with experiment data

My main work was to generate physics models of service and parking actuators to simulate potential leakage through Simulink and Simscape and use the model as a future design tool for next generation product design. I also used my extra time to developed an electrical pneumatic valve model in order to emulate a full air brake numerical simulation.

Undergraduate Research Assistant - MTEC
Here are few projects I worked before in this lab. 1. Modeling and optimization of thermoelectric module parameters for energy generation 2. Influence of 3D Printing Infill pattern on effective thermal properties 3.Thermal Metrology for Soft Nanomaterials

Formula SAE Student
• Innovated the adjustable pedal box and established FEA models to verify the reliability of the new design • Redefined the brake ratio to rearrange the brake pedal and master cylinder positions; the new design required smaller space and high fluid compress ratio to improve the braking efficiency • Introduced the design philosophy of chassis, collaborated with the current chassis team leader to assign projects to new members, and Guided them to do simply machine work • Redeveloped the 2015 chassis model in Ansys Workbench to run Finite Elements Analyses • Manufactured jigs for 2014 chassis and 2013 chassis by using millings and lathe machine; made the car’s seat and aerodynamics package using fiberglass layup

Heterogeneous Surface Wettability for Manipulation of Dryout Hydrodynamics and Bubble Departure during Boiling I had performed experiments to obtain the boiling behavior of hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces and reproduced a wick-ability test system for super-hydrophilic surfaces in order to define hydrophilic or hydrophobic surface. Besides, I have also created methods to process wick-ability test videos to extract height difference in MATLAB and analyzed wick-ability images to find the peak points of water droplet in each frame using MATLAB imaging process toolbox.

• Design an integrated brake pad measurement tool to efficiently measure pad wear after cyclo testing • Innovated fixtures to accomplish varies testings, such as a mimic carrier fixture for vibration tests on coming project
