Yuecheng Xi
Senior Research Investigator @ BeOne Medicines
About
I'm a motivated bioanalytical PhD scientist with 3 years post-graduate expertise in virology, cell and molecular biology, preclinical and DMPK. My current focus is to investigate potential critical quality attributes (CQAs) of therapeutic oncolytic virus and biologics to understand its PK, BD and immunogenicity profile. My passion is to integrate multidisciplinary knowledge to develop novel bioanalytical methods in different modalities including but not limited to viral vector and biologics to support R&D drug pipeline

Experience

DMPK Postdoc scientist
Ridgefield, Connecticut, United States
• Investigated a novel potential critical quality attribute (CQA) of therapeutic viral vector and understood the pharmacokinetic and biodistribution profile • Led 4+ projects and supported stakeholders including but not limited to DMPK and CMC in fast-paced and cross-functional teams • Developed method of qualification/validation and quantitation for lipidomic analysis using Orbitrap and QQQ • Increased 20% of identified lipids by optimizing LC-MS methods to increase the sensitivity

Postdoc Research Associate I
Tucson, Arizona, United States
• Discovered novel antiviral effects of a fatty acid as a potential target for limiting virus replication • Designed, engineered, and cloned 10+ plasmids for overexpression, shRNA and CRISPR knockout for wildtype gene or mutagenesis using lentivirus inducible system • Increased lentivirus transfection/transduction efficiency and target cell survival by 50% • Led the lab with 5+ scientists in critiquing manuscript and presentation, project planning/organizing and providing critical feedback

Molecular Medicine PhD Student
Tucson, Arizona, United States
• Explored the functional role of lipid metabolism in 4 virus models including HSV, CMV, coronavirus and SARS-hCoV2 in various human primary cell lines • Discovered 4 different mechanisms of virus-host interaction in how viruses hijack host lipid metabolism • Mentored 5+ students in critical thinking, design and perform experiments and other scientific directions

Research Assistant
Toledo, Ohio Area
• Identified the mechanisms by which sulfation detoxifies compounds present in oil dispersants using zebrafish cytosolic sulfotransferases • Defined how human phase II drug metabolism sulfation detoxify natural substrates by human SULTs • Managed lab routine cleaning, safety, organization and instrument maintenance, and created reports weekly
