We are developing a strategy for inserting viral portal proteins with flexible inner pores into lipid membranes. Building on our recent demonstration of DNA sensing with G20C mutants, we are in the process of characterizing the sensing capabilities of these mutants through ionic current recordings of DNA and peptide translocations through the portal mutant.

Assisted Drs. David Farb and Marcia Ratner in vivo electrophysiological investigations looking at the effects of novel cognitive enhancers on neural network activity in rodent models of Alzheimer’s disease and age-related cognitive impairment. Managed brain electrophysiology projects related to various experiments in the lab to reproduce experimental methods and ensure they provided valid data.

Developed a rapid, efficient, and sensitive LC-MS/MS assay for the determination of tinib drugs plasma and tissue concentrations in mice. Drafted the blood drug concentration-time curve and the brain drug concentration-time curve by GraphPad; applied the WinNonlin to process the data to obtain the area under the curve (AUC) and the pharmacokinetic parameters of the tinib drugs in mice.
