About
Yohannes is a public health expert with over 14 years of experience in disease epidemiology, surveillance, outbreak response, immunization, and data management across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. He has led and supported emergency responses to vaccine-preventable and climate-sensitive disease outbreaks and coordinated health interventions in complex humanitarian settings. In collaboration with WHO, MSF, partners, and national health authorities, Yohannes has strengthened surveillance systems, enhanced immunization coverage, improved outbreak response measures, and advanced data-driven public health decision-making. He has also led the production of critical information products—including Public Health Situation Analyses (PHSA) and Situation Reports—on drought, food insecurity, and climate-related health emergencies to guide preparedness and response. His expertise further includes assessing and communicating the health impacts of climate variability and change to support timely and effective public health action.
