Ph.D. in Stem Cell Biology, University of Edinburgh (2004-2008) . Four-year doctorate focused on the molecular control of neural-stem-cell self-renewal and differentiation, combining single-cell culture, high-content imaging and transcriptomics. Work generated the first clonal, long-term human neural stem-cell line lacking CD133 expression, now deposited in the UK Stem Cell Bank. Research was supported by a competitive Wellcome Trust Prize Studentship and produced multiple first-author papers. Final experimental phase carried out at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Stem Cell Research, University of Cambridge (2006-2008), where I collaborated with Prof. Austin Smith’s group on BMP/FGF signalling crosstalk, laying the groundwork for my later translational neurosurgery programmes.
