Yikang Liu

I am an engineer with a strong background in industrial automation, process instrumentation and control engineering, and industrial computing systems. I have hands-on experience in edge server system design (Java, MySQL, LabVIEW), and the implementation of Advanced Process Control (APC) strategies on edge servers for optimizing combustion efficiency, steam generation, and emissions reduction in Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plants. My expertise also covers industrial communication (OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus/Profinet, MQTT,) and the integration of DCS/PLC systems such as Yokogawa, Emerson Ovation, Siemens, Hitachi Hi-Tech, and Mitsubishi — including I/O configuration, protocol interfacing, and cross-platform control logic development — gained through multiple large-scale international WtE projects. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in IT & Software Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), where I am expanding my expertise in AI-driven anomaly detection, industrial cybersecurity (IEC 62443), and IIoT edge/cloud integration. I am passionate about bridging Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) to develop secure, data-driven, and intelligent solutions for critical infrastructure and next-generation industrial systems.
