Yen Chung Lai

I am an Immunologist with a Ph.D. from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, specializing in molecular biology, virology, and antibody-based solutions to combat infectious diseases. My expertise spans mouse antibody discovery using hybridoma technology, antibody characterization, diagnostic kit development, and immunogen design, with a focus on addressing global health challenges like dengue virus pathogenesis, vaccine design, and therapeutic antibody development. During my doctoral training in the laboratories of Thomas Rogers and Dennis Burton, I expanded my expertise to include B cell sorting for human antibody discovery and characterization, immunogen design, and efficacy evaluation using in vivo challenge models. This work targeted several emerging pathogens, including Zika virus, influenza virus, Pseudomonas, and malaria parasites. My contributions include impactful publications in Nature Communications and other leading journals, underscoring my skills in scientific communication and translational research. My research integrates molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, and animal models to inform the development of vaccines and therapeutic antibodies. With a deep passion for applying innovative science to real-world challenges, I strive to make a meaningful impact on global health. My ultimate goal is to advance the frontiers of immunology and translational medicine while inspiring the next generation of scientists.
