Research Coursework Title: Implementation of conductive composite technologies to avoid lightning strike direct damage The primary objective of this study is to explore and evaluate various technologies aimed at increasing the electrical conductivity of composite materials used in aircraft structures, thereby improving their resistance to lightning strike damage.

Grand Challenge: Virtual Analysis of Design for Electromagnetic Resilience (VADER) Sponsor: Gulfstream Aerospace Creating a decision support environment using simulations to predict lightning strike certifications risk of failure in early stages of design and reduce the number of physical testings.

Course: Aerospace Systems Engineering Introduction to aerospace systems engineering. Systems engineering and quality engineering methods and tools. Top-down design decision support processes, computer integrated environments, Integrated Product/Process Development (IPPD).

Course : Introduction to engineering graphics Introduction to engineering graphics and visualization including sketching, line drawing, and solid modeling. Development and interpretation of drawings and specifications for product realization.

As part of completing my aerospace engineering degree, my end of study project was based on this internship. I was in charge of the optimisation of the LEAP engine harnesses production. Focusing on the Lean manufacturing principles and the six sigma methodologies, many improvements were suggested to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the production unit. I also conducted a research on the LEAP engine comparing it to its predecessor the CFM56. Both engines are known for their performance and reliability, used in very common aircrafts (B737MAX, A320neo family, A340) Apart from that, I got the chance to participate in an industrial work environment and collaborate with multiple departments to achieve the common goals.

Subject : Improvement of the B737 wings-wiring production - Mastering the different processes of electrical harnesses manufacture. - Specialization in the manufacture of harnesses’ extremities and timing their detailed different production steps. - Theoretical study and proposal of a potential improvement that makes the production 10% faster and 30% less material waste.
