SanJuan AI: Puerto Rico’s Local AI SanJuan AI is building the first Local AI model for Puerto Rico: an intelligent system designed to understand, serve, and evolve with the island. More than a chatbot, SanJuan AI is a locally grounded AI deployment trained on Puerto Rico’s culture, language, economy, and real-world needs. It represents a new paradigm: AI that belongs to a place and its people, not a generic global model. The SanJuan AI system is being developed as a living local intelligence layer; enabling residents, businesses, and institutions to access trusted information, automate workflows, and interact with AI that understands Puerto Rico contextually, not abstractly. The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship program of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), administered through the U.S. Department of State. Since its creation in 2014, the fellowship has brought together nearly 7,200 of Africa’s brightest minds from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
