Responsible for multiple cases filed by the Trustee for the liquidation proceedings of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC involving over $190 million in transfers. Investigated potential litigants and interviewed witnesses and other interested parties to develop claims. Researched legal issues and developed legal theories that were adopted by the court. Designed and implemented processes to improve coordination among key players, including creating shared reports and deploying update procedures, establishing key relationships with court personnel, and communicating regularly with co-counsel. Led teams of attorneys, paralegals, and vendors to conduct electronic discovery, and led negotiations with opposing counsel on settlements.

Defended international telecommunication companies in a patent infringement case and successfully obtained dismissal of complaint after filing a motion to dismiss. Second-chaired expert cross-examination and prepared trial demonstratives for a four-day preliminary injunction hearing involving a trade secret dispute. Defended an international privately-owned energy supplier in securities litigation over its attempted takeover of a Spanish utility company. Conducted internal investigations of a Big Four accounting firm for possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and of a major manufacturer of health care, consumer, and pharmaceutical products in anticipation of litigation after withdrawing from an agreement to purchase another company.

Researched and wrote memoranda on various legal issues, including the Supreme Court decision on the Children’s Internet Protection Act, the powers of private security guards, and restrictions on selling merchandise and distributing handbills on New York streets. Analyzed and wrote memoranda on proposed legislation, including the USA Patriot Act II and New York internet filtering legislation. Drafted research misconduct policy, code of ethics, and various legal correspondence, including issues related to NYPL trademarks.

Developed, supported, and enhanced the Federal government’s official Medicare website, including serving as the database administrator. Assessed client’s business requirements and goals, analyzed current technical capabilities, and devised future initiatives and opportunities to utilize the Internet as a business channel.
