Xiaomeng Cai

I completed my Bachelor Degree of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University, and am doing my Master of Landscape Architecture in Cornell University. My love for design is from my passion and interests. If you ask me why I choose to become a Landscape Designer, I would love to tell you that I want to follow my dad’s career. He is a civil engineer. Since I was a baby, I saw AutoCAD all the time. The first command I learned is ‘E +Return‘, which is erase. From that, I want to do something similar, and also want to get connections with humans, so I choose Landscape Architecture as my career future. Gradually, I fell in love with it. I want to design a project that can connect people’s behaviors and relations and open space together. During my internship, I did my first project under my manager’s guidance. Even though it is a small street corridor design, the project has been constructed. When I saw people begin to get into the corridor, I was very proud of myself. I think that’s the reason to become a Landscape Architect.
