Anthony is an experienced technology lawyer, technologist, and former CIO with over 25 years of global experience at the intersection of law, technology, and regulation. He has guided organisations through complex digital transformations, emerging technologies like AI, and shifting regulatory landscapes. Combining legal expertise with technology leadership and global policy work, he offers strategic advice that balances innovation, resilience, and accountability across industries including finance, media, education, tourism, construction, insurance, consulting, and data-driven sectors. Highly respected in Australia and internationally, Anthony has advised governments, corporates, and start-ups, served on the Australian Government IT Industry Innovation Council, and held board roles such as President of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), President of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) created under the auspicious of UNESCO, Chair of the NSW Government ICT Advisory Panel, and Member of the NSW Government Digital Transformation Taskforce. As Director of AGW Legal & Advisory, he leads a multidisciplinary practice spanning law and technology. His career includes senior positions in multinational corporations and government, notably as CIO of the Australian Tourist Commission during the Sydney 2000 Olympics, leading Thomson’s Asia-Pacific digital transformation, and developing innovative solutions with Philips. He holds double degrees in Computer Science and Law from Monash University, a Master of Laws in Media, Communications and IT from UNSW, and a Master of Intellectual Property from UTS. Anthony is adept at translating regulatory requirements into actionable controls and bridging the gap between governance, product, engineering, and executive teams. ● The NSW Government established the Accelerating Digital Government Taskforce (Taskforce) to report on initiatives and programs to accelerate the digital transformation of the business of government, to deliver better public services in NSW and to transform the public sector by enabling digital ways of working, sharing information more easily between agencies and taking advantages of the opportunities afforded by 'big data'. The scope of work for the Taskforce touches on a number of areas of law, policy, technology and practice and the Taskforce includes both senior government and private sector representatives. ● The Taskforce successfully completed and tabled its recommendations to the NSW Government to accelerate the digital transition and transformation of the public service and highlighted the benefits for public sector efficiency and service delivery. ● The report was largely adopted by the Government and NSW is now the exemplar State in Australia in the adoption, use and deployment of technologies to better deliver public services. Following on from NSW’s successes, the Commonwealth Government have embarked to embrace similar initiatives and programs.
