Directing clients in use of Milliken performance system to improve associate engagement and morale; improve plant safety and align company’s goals with associate activity and efforts. Engagements included companies in cosmetic, tobacco, food, food packaging and foundry businesses. Implemented performance system pillars of safety, daily team maintenance, preventative maintenance, Focused Improvement, continuous skill development, 5’s and product development pillars with clients – Jack Links, Autumn Harp, Palmer Foundry and Print Pack (Prescott Valley, AZ & Elgin ILL). Improved plant safety by engaging associates and installing data safety structure; improved OSHA RIR from 2.54 to 1.2 with Autumn Harp and from 3.35 to 1.2 with Print Pack. Reduced manufacturing cost at food packaging company by 16% by reducing waste, improving OEE, focusing on specification and focused project work (FI) resulting to savings of $569M over 18 month period. Created and instructed 3-week certification class on Print Pack performance system for 10 Internal Print Pack associates.

Development activities associated with $100M Milliken Business: Implemented measures of sample cost vs. sample sales, project hit ratio’s, technology usage and intellectual property usage through patents and trademarks. Implemented and managed use of stage-gate process within business. Managed staff of 8 new venture and core development engineers. Eliminated $900K loss of sample expenses improving profitability. Established 5-year contract worth $140M by developing products for Sunbeam’s (Newell Rubbermaid) Warming blanket business. Developed Quiet ComfortRXTM brand of dust mite allergen encasings, sales totaled $1.4M dollars with National Allergy. Inventor of 8 US Patents and 3 time member of Milliken Innovators Hall of Fame-Jacquard PlusTM, Quiet ComfortRXTM and Sunbeam Warming Blankets.

Worked up Milliken’s manufacturing ladder with positions as Shift Manager, Plant Technical Manager and Plant Leadership Positions at four locations. Plant Manager at Lockhart yarn, knit and textile finishing as well as location manager at Gaffney Manufacturing. Plant Manager at Lockhart yarn, knitting and textile finishing. Manning included 200 hourly and 15 salaried associates. Automotive seating vinyl, speaker fabrics, and glove markets served. Plant was ISO Certified and produced 450,000 yards per week. Location Manager at Gaffney Manufacturing Milliken’s largest OE and Ring Spun yarn plant. Manning included 320 hourly and 22 salary associates. Upholstery and Apparel markets served. Plant was ISO and VPP Certified and produced 475,000 pounds per week.
