Phil, a native Midwesterner, first came to the Island of Nantucket for a winter visit in November of '72 and was immediately attracted to the island's charm and tight social network. His visit lasted a bit longer than expected with him staying year round using his in-depth knowledge of wines while working as Sommellier at Straight Wharf Restaurant until 1988. Looking for a change of scenery, Phil decided to move to Washington DC, where he worked for two years as manager and Sommellier of DC's own 21 Federal. In 1990, Phil decided to bring his managerial and people skills into the real estate world establishing Bennett-Witte Real Estate serving the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas. He enjoyed great success with his company until the draw of Nantucket called him back home. In 1997, he returned to the island and happily resides with his wife, Susan, their dog, Oz, and their cat, 'Lil. When he is not working he enjoys cooking and has been known to take part in the occasional round of golf with friends.
