Wilson Cardoso

With a Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering and more than 39 years of experience in the field, I have been the Chief Technology Officer for Latin America and Brazil at Nokia until March 2024. In this role, I was responsible for delivering cutting-edge solutions and services that enhance network performance, quality, and security for our customers and partners in the region. As the CTO, I also led multi-cultural and diverse teams, fostered a culture of collaboration, problem-solving, and customer focus, and created value and impact for the telecommunications community. I leveraged my expertise in LTE, 5G, digitalization, cloud computing, IA, and mobile devices, and network architecture to influence the customer decision making process, build the pipeline, and shape the medium and long term strategy. Additionally, I advanced the field of telecommunications engineering through research and education, contributing to the innovation and digitalization of the sector. I am motivated by challenges and new opportunities, and I always look for the best combination between results and high performance teams. I have developed team members focusing on short term results and collaborative work, supporting them during the journey. I have also managed sizable team downsizing and merging as a result of several M&A processes during my professional life. Dealing with customers (internal and external) is a special motivation for me, taking my solid technical background, I am able to work as a trusted advisor and a continuous source of information to others. I also invest considerably in coaching and mentoring activities, with concrete results in Brazil. I am passionate about telecommunications engineering and its potential to transform the world.
