William Hsu, PhD MBA

Dr. William Hsu, PhD, MBA, is a medtech entrepreneur, investor, and startup advisor passionate about building smarter, AI-enabled health technologies. With 30+ years in the U.S. and Singapore, he helps startups bridge innovation, funding, and commercialization across both regions. An inventor with 70+ patents, Dr. Hsu developed algorithms now powering implantable ICD and CRT-D devices used worldwide (RhythmID). He has recruited and led high performing teams in digital health, remote monitoring, and connected care at Guidant (Boston Scientific), BIOTRONIK, Intel, Google Verily, Becton Dickinson, and St. Jude Medical (Abbott). Some of the clinical results (Dr Niraj Varma Cleveland Clinic) has appeared in Circulation, JCE and British Heart Journal. As principal of WH Consulting, he advises startups, VCs, and health organizations including Blue Shield of California, Caltech and Asia Lifescience VC on services such as opportunity assessment, business development, fundraising plans, technical peer review. Dr. Hsu is also an active angel investor with NuFund Venture Group and Life Science Angels. He is a frequent speaker and pitch judge at many global medtech events.
