Internship to build bridges with students from Mexico and work together in a lab to research a topic under the PI (Principle Investigator). I am specifically researching older cripple walls, in response to different earthquake scenarios, and how to improve them with retrofitting to prepare for future devastating earthquakes.

My job in the lab consists of cleansing and autoclaving of medical tools, surgical record keeping, dosing and injecting, anesthetizing, handling/husbandry, observation of vitals, surgical closure by suture of the ribs and muscle and by staple of the epidermal tissue, post-op surgical care, blood/tissue collection, separating plasma and serum from blood samples, and spotting blood samples on blood spot cards.
