· Leading a special purpose team to develop and position a disruptive technology into a previously unfamiliar red ocean market. Strategic thinking and decision making. · Project manager and developer of an industrial heliostat aim-point strategy software which does dynamic aim point management of a field with 14500 heliostats. The system is currently being implemented in China. · Two international solar collector development projects in China and Australia. · Optical design of a 50MWe heliostat field currently under construction in Hami, China. · Development of heliostat field modelling and layout optimisation software suite. · Leading innovative solar field configurations in the award-winning Gridsol Project in European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

· Co-founded a technology development start-up in the concentrating solar power industry. · Using a human/system centered design approach innovative technology solutions were conceptualized which led to several patented ideas. Through rapid prototyping, stringent cost analysis and collaboration with industry partners, a design solution was achieved improving performance and reducing cost by 35% below the industry standard. · Managed the design, construction and commissioning of a 270m2 heliostat field. The Helio100 pilot facility built to showcase the technology was the national flagship technology development project of the South African Technology Innovation Agency. · The Helio100 project won the WWF Climate Solver prize and nominated for the SolarPACES technology innovation prize. · Worked closely with clients managing technology trail evaluations and design iterations. · Invited by the Royal Academy of Engineering to present this work at their Frontiers of Engineering for Development symposia in Cambridge. · Developing a spatial-temporal power systems simulation software for high level assessment of the ability of renewable energy technologies to meet national energy demand requirements.

· Modelled of industrial solar water heating systems, completed feasibility assessments and energy efficiency investigations for commercial and industrial clients. · Initiated a successful 120m 2 solar process heat project for the CBC brewery. · Participated in Task49 - Solar Heat Integration in Industrial Processes within the International Energy Agency’s Solar Heating and Cooling program. · Presented training courses for industry on industrial solar water heating.

· In the Global Engineering Teams Program, where an international team of engineers worked on industry projects, an innovative, first of its kind, automotive safety technology was conceptualised and developed up to the proof of concept phase. · Presented the proof of concept at the TU Berlin in Germany.

· Worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Defence, Peace, Safety and Security. · Commissioned a cold water calorimeter and reconditioned a 25m 2 heliostat.

· Design and project work in a production environment in an automated manufacturing plant. · Participated in the construction and commissioning of a spray-drying plant where I designed two blast doors that were build and implemented at the Modderfontein Facility.
