Wicher Verhage

EPSO’s core mission is to meet the EU institutions’ recruitment needs by selecting talented candidates through generalist and specialist competitions. In carrying out this goal, EPSO acts as a trusted matchmaker between the EU institutions and high performing professionals and graduates. It thus contributes to the building of the current and future European civil service. EU Careers Student Ambassadors are appointed for an academic year to promote EU Careers in a variety of universities across the EU, including through social and other media, attending events and giving presentations, answering students' questions, and building networks in the university, with local EU representations, colleagues in the national government and others.

The West Wing is a think tank created by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs for students and young professionals to provide the Ministry with creative and innovative ideas on current policy questions.

Als raadslid adviseerde ik het faculteitsbestuur als vertegenwoordiger van het studentenlichaam. Tijdens vergaderingen werden diverse onderwerpen besproken van begrotingen, tot veiligheidsdiscussies en ook onderwerpen waarvoor geheimhoudingsplicht bestaat. Ik leerde hier dus ook zorgvuldig omgaan met gevoelige informatie. Ik was ook verantwoordelijk voor de social-media outreach van de raad naar de studenten. Halfverwege het jaar ging mijn dossier ook grotendeels over privacy zorgen van studenten en docenten.

Als onderwijs assistent steunde ik professor van Wansleeben in zijn lessen op wat voor manieren hij nodig had. Dat hield in zelf les geven, opdrachten checken, er voor zorgen dat de digitale werkomgeving goed werkte en ik fungeerde als contactpunt voor de studenten. Het lesgeven heeft mij veel ervaring gegeven in sociaal actief en positief blijven, ook als de mensen om je heen niet met dezelfde energie op jou reageren.

Als verkoopmedewerker verzorgde ik de winkel op verscheidende manieren, zoals schoonmaken en producten ordenen. Ik heb ook taken als kassière vervuld.

This minor focused on the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. The topics in this minor ranged from art history, material science and chemistry, what defines cultural heritage and how to handle it. This minor has given me a rich experience in not only more technical subjects such as chemistry, but also in deeper more fundamental discussions, such as what constitutes art/culture and when one is justified in intervening in a (cultural) artefact.
