Work as bioinformatist to support both pre-clinical and clinical biomarker researc.h

I am now working in the quantitative biomedical science departemtn to provide bioinformatics support for various projects across the pharma, the academic and the CROs. In particular, I worked on data mining of large scale NGS data, proteomic data as well as transcriptome data, integrated multi-omics data, developing useful computational tools, pipelines as well as statistical methods for biomarker development, target identification and antibody discovery to support the whole chain of drug discovery and development.

I designed and drafted the product manuals for the company. Those products focused on gene testing for disease prediction and diagnosis in the field of cancer, cardiovascular and metabolism diseases which is based on NGS technologies. I also made presentation and introduced the products to the customers, delivered the training to the sales in the company.

I worked in the Strategy Plan and Analysis department as an intern. I built the database of labs and research institutions with first ranking capabilities of performing oncology studies in China, which help AZ find the most potential cooperators and speed up the drug development on the pipeline. .

Market analysis of the latest bio-technologies, bio-medical companies, start-ups and stocks. I drafted the reports concerning market prospects, market volume and share, the "SWOT" analysis of the leading enterprise and promising companies with the evaluation of the financial status of the company and valuation of equities etc.

During the 15 months in UCLA, I worked as visiting graduate researcher. Under the supervision of Professor Roel Ophoff, I contributed to the genetics studies of rare and common diseases by applying bioinformatics techniqeus. For example, I built the first in house bioinformatic pipelines to identify the candidate variants as well as copy number variations from whole exome sequencing data. I also worked on the relationship between the biological and chronological age using DNA methylation data and a clock predictor developed by Dr. Steve Horvath, a professor in UCLA. Additionally, I attended a great number of seminars and courses offered by human genetics and neuroscience graduate programs at UCLA. Moreover, I accomplished a class named “M Pharm 287. Business of Science”, in UCLA business center, which was on the “introduction to principles of business and entrepreneurship in technology sectors”.

I accomplished comprehensive and extensive trainings on human genetics as a PhD student in Shanghai Jiaotong University. I focused on genetics finding of both the common and rare human diseases by applying the NGS and other bioinformatics related technologies. In addition, by using the functional genome technologies, such as mouse model, I working on validating the function of the genes that play the part in the etiology of the disease. I was also well trained in drafting research proposals, making presentations, writing professional papers, building connections and teamwork spirit.

I worked as visiting graduate researcher in UCLA.
