I have qualified as a Architectural Technician over 44 years ago, operating a private practice for 40 years as a Conservation Consultant specialising in the use of traditional materials alongside modern interventions. I specialise in the correct use of modern materials in traditional and historic structures thus ensuring the survival and sustainability of these buildings. I have worked mainly in the Northwest but have also undertaken many projects in Dublin and Cork. See experience below. Highly experienced in the local history of County Sligo in both built and natural history. As an expert I present and lecture on key topics during Heritage Week, the local Historical and Archaeological Society, the Sligo Field Club, and the wider community on a variety of topics. I also have lectured on the restoration of the various projects that I have undertaken.

I provide Conservation Reports, Heritage Impact Assessments for planning process. I will also provide project management and site supervision of all work assessed and designed by my practice. I will sign off all reports and surveys undertaken by my practice. Projects: Markree West Gate Lodge and Telegraph Tower: The building was roofless and derelict and was restored and is now a domestic dwelling. Grants were received from Irish Georgian Society, The Heritage Council. The tower is round and some 60 feet high and had been badly vandalised. Most of the stone was still available for reuse, the spiral staircase is similar to those in a light house reducing the higher one climbs. It has been completely restored. Markree Castle Stone Tower, Collooney, Co. Sligo: One of the castellated towers five storeys up, was in poor structural condition and had to be taken down and rebuilt. The surrounding roof had to be repaired at the same time. St Anne’s Church, Strandhill: Complete re roof and provide ne timber sheeting ceiling below existing rafters. repoint West gable and bell Tower.
