- Manipulated highly ordered lamellae with domain spacing from 20 nm to 240 nm using brush copolymers. The domain size was found to increase approximately linearly with backbone length by scattering and simulation results, which indicated an extended conformation of the backbone in the ordered state. - Developed a versatile method to transfer a novel block copolymer with a photocleavable junction templates to applicable scaffolds. Hexagonal packed nanodots and well-ordered nanowires were achieved using those block copolymer templates. - Discovered a new route to control the orientation and lateral ordering of block copolymer microdomains by tuning interactions between block copolymers with large incompatibility (large χ) and substrates using analogous block copolymer brushes that were end-anchored to the substrate. - Led long-term collaboration with Seagate Technology to manipulate bit patterned media with high areal density using block copolymer templates, which has promising application in hard disk drive industry.
