About
I am a results-driven finance executive, strategic business partner, and people leader with a proven track record of success. I have over 10 years of experience as a Corporate Controller, and I am adept at providing meaningful business insights on complex financial data. ▶ I have led numerous business process redesign efforts, including post-acquisition integration projects, to leverage best practices and process improvements. My early career was about stacking technical skills. Mid-career, it’s become more about people leadership, establishing the proper culture, and improving the efficiency of people and processes. ▶ I have worked in both large and small organizations, and my experience has given me a deep understanding of how to connect the dots between financial data and business decisions. I am a highly motivated and results-oriented individual who is always looking for ways to improve the performance of my team and my company. ▶ I provided critical leadership, including implementing financial processes, to Pacific Compensation Insurance Company from its inception. In four years, PacificComp grew to $155 million in premium (with a combined ratio of 82.5%) before being sold to Alleghany Corporation in July 2007. ▶ In 2007, I worked with our private equity ownership group and their investment bankers (Wachovia Securities) on the offering memorandum to support the sale of PacificComp to Alleghany. ▶ In 2017, I worked with Alleghany’s management team and their investment bankers (Goldman Sachs) on the offering memorandum and due diligence materials for the sale of PacificComp to Copperpoint Insurance Company in December 2017. ▶ As a key member of Internal Controls Working Group, I partnered with Internal Audit to update Risk Control Matrices (RCMs) for key processes to properly capture risks, mitigating controls and supporting documentation under the ICFR framework. ▶ I headed initiative to determine optimal time to commute a structured reinsurance contract. The negotiated commutation of the reinsurance treaty resulted in a $400,000 cash settlement which exceeded the internal view of the economic value by 60%.
