Executive Director @ Foundation Communities

About

I am proud to serve as the Executive Director of Foundation Communities the last 28 years. We work in Texas to create affordable housing where families succeed. Our communities are deeply affordable, beautiful, well managed, and uplifting. Award winning Austin communities include Trails at the Park, M Station, Capital Studios, Homestead, Bluebonnet Studios, Waterloo Terrace and more. During my career I have secured subsidy financing of more than $750 million to create more than 5,000 units of service-enriched, nonprofit-owned affordable housing. I have led Foundation Communities in the development of a financially sustainable housing + services approach that is a national model. FC operates 16 onsite learning centers and 9 supportive housing communities for the homeless. The Children’s Home Initiative program provides intensive services to end homelessness for 170 families with children each year. FC offers an array of onsite health programs to its 9,000 residents. Our Prosper Centers offer free income tax prep, health insurance enrollment and other financial services to over 40,000 families each year. FC is a leader in green building, and we are the largest nonprofit producer of solar power in Central Texas. I am honored to have received the following recognition: • Inaugural Affordable Austin Champion Award, Austin Business Journal Commercial Real Estate Awards, 2023 • Notely Changemaker Award, Affordability Champion, 2022 • Real Estate Council of Austin, Community Service Award, 2022 • "Best Grackle" The Austin Chronicle Best of Austin Winner, 2022 • Vision Award, Urban Land Institute of Austin, 2021 • Charles J. Cook Award in Servant Leadership, Seminary of the Southwest, 2017 • Most Worthy Citizen Award, Austin Board of Realtors, 2017 • Interfaith Action of Central Texas’ Affordable Housing Hero, 2012 • Whitney M. Young Jr. Leadership Award, Austin Area Urban League, 2010 • James A. Johnson Fannie Mae Foundation Fellowship, 2006 • Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year, 2005 • Texas Houser Award, Texas Low Income Housing Information Service, 2004
