The project was a bilateral one and sponsered by DST-UKIERI. The project was about "Development of Marine Energy Technology for Indian Remote Islands". My role is to select a potential area in and near remote islands to develop energy from marine sources. Two journal papers were written and communicated for high impact journals. Got an opportunity through the project fund to visit and work from the Queen Mary University of London, UK for a month.

Cyclone data for recent 23 years were collected and its impact was estimated using empirical relations.Model was simulated for 2 cyclones(Hudhud and Phailin).The results from empirical relations and model are validated with insitu data. Since the comparison results gives good correlation this method can be adopted to estimate the cyclone impact anywhere along the coast. The impact was calculated upto 250km north and south from the landfall region.We found that this method will be very much useful to make preliminary assessment of cyclone impact where there is no measured data.
