‣ Yahoo Bar - managed the team that delivered a new unified header across all Yahoo products. This new header replaces an older one that had been customized a 100 different ways and was becoming unmanageable. This header keeps the majority of the experience consistent across all Yahoo products but at the same time provides a module development environment for teams that want the customization to build and own their product experiences in their own header modules. This version of the header provides full accessibility and localization support and is also significantly lighter weight (50 KB) compared to its predecessor (700KB). ‣ Customer Care Account Management Tool After Verizon's acquisition of Yahoo and then combining AOL, Yahoo and other brands under a single umbrella (Oath), I took up the responsibility to lead a team that would build a single Account Management tool that Customer care agents would interface with for all of Oath's users to verify and modify user's identity related data. This helped us achieve the goal of being able to retire a lot of the legacy identity systems from these different companies and have Oath be the identity provider for all of them.

Led several strong functional teams of high-performing engineers to deliver a number of critical functionalities of the Yahoo Identity platform. I was responsible for every aspect of the software life cycle from product and engineering vision, technical architecture, user experience design, implementation, testing and service engineering. A few of the needle mover products are listed below: ‣ Yahoo Account Key (Y.A.K) An audacious industry first product that helps Yahoo users to no longer have to remember their passwords. YAK uses push notifications sent to Yahoo mobile applications that users can approve on their device in order to sign in to their account. More than 50M Yahoo users have adopted this sign-in method, we are acquiring new users at a rapid run-rate with minimal attrition. ‣ Dynamic Account Recovery and Authentication Engine A revamped account recovery mechanism that utilizes an Authentication Engine that dynamically determines (based on input signals such as cookies, browser fingerprint, ASN etc. and stored user account state) a sequence of easy to difficult challenges that user has to solve before they get access to their account. Not only did this product make it extremely tough for an attacker to get in but also improved the conversion rate of real users by 10% compared to its predecessor. ‣ New improved Membercenter A single portal that provided a streamlined way for users to manage all their account settings such as viewing their login activity and managing their active sessions/devices, managing security settings such as passwords, their two factor authentication and their YAK state and finally managing their personal settings such as name, date of birth, profile picture etc. As part of this effort, I was able to achieve an entire rewrite of the 15-year-old Yahoo Membership legacy code base into a new technology stack with full CI/CD. Led a cross-functional team across Bay area, LA and Israel to deliver: ‣ Smart Guide Recommendation Engine, an app on the Yahoo Smart TV platform, that provides personal recommendations for what to watch, combining most popular content sources and adapts passively to the user's viewing history. ‣ Live Stats, a feature within the sports app on the Smart TV platform, which displayed stats relevant to the situation within the MLB or NFL game that user is watching on the TV. ‣ Broadcast Interactivity Services, services provided to our partners (advertisers and broadcasters) so they could enhance their specific Ads and shows with additional content.

Led a team of engineers that were responsible for building various aspects of Membership such as Registration, Account Data and Life Cycle Management and Account Recovery.

Responsible for the architecture and implementation of some key platforms: - Account State Changer (ASC) - a critical central service that manages the life cycle of Yahoo accounts and provides notifications of these state changes to rest of Yahoo to manage their downstream user data - Supernova platform - Account Management APIs that cover account lifecycle changes including creation, deletion, suspension, termination and reactivation and managing account attributes. Helped onboard several partners such as Telecom New Zealand and Verizon into this platform. Mentored a few interns and junior engineers in this role.

Designed, authored and maintained several core C++ libraries that were used throughout the company to manage account life cycle and account partner affiliations.

- Transparent TCP Connection Failover – Contributed to the development of a system that enables failover of a TCP server endpoint in a manner that is transparent to the clients and the server applications. This could be used to render any TCP based service highly available/fault tolerant. - In a team of 2, designed and developed a transparent fault tolerance framework for Enterprise Java Beans and J2EE services, funded by NIST. Integrated this technology into the JBoss J2EE application server. - Developed a transparent file replication system where file system calls like open(), read(), write() were intercepted/overloaded and transferred to a multi-threaded backup server for replication.
