Vishaal Krishnan

I build mathematical and machine learning frameworks for modeling, simulating, and controlling complex engineered, physical, and biological systems, with a recent focus on virtual cell models. My current work sits in AI for science, where I aim to build models that reflect the dynamics and structure of real systems, rather than treating them as static prediction problems. My approach is shaped by control theory, dynamical systems, and stochastic processes. I am currently a Senior Machine Learning Scientist, working on generative and dynamical models in biology, including virtual cell modeling and analysis of cell-state dynamics from high-dimensional single-cell data. I previously worked at the intersection of non-equilibrium soft matter physics, optimal control and ML/data-driven methods -- from multi-agent robotics to active matter. I am interested in developing foundational methods that make scientific ML models more predictive, interpretable, and amenable to control.
