Vinicius Carvalho

Contributed to student-led engineering initiatives within the IEEE UP Student Branch, collaborating in technical, organizational, and community-focused activities. Participated in projects and events that fostered innovation, teamwork, and practical engineering experience beyond the academic curriculum. This experience helped me strengthen collaboration skills, initiative, and engagement in extracurricular technical environments.

• Led the strategic and operational activities of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) student branch at the University of Porto, coordinating members, organizing initiatives, and ensuring the execution of project deliverables and deadlines. • Played an active role in maintaining an engaged technical community and fostering leadership, collaboration, and structured project execution.

Participated in the Open de Portugal robotics competition through the development and improvement of a MicroRato autonomous robot. Worked on problem-solving in embedded systems, control logic, electronics, and algorithm implementation in a competitive environment. This experience reinforced my practical skills in robotics development, debugging, iterative testing, and performance-oriented engineering.

Invited back to support FEUP’s introductory robotics course, mentoring undergraduate students in project development, technical documentation, and final presentations. Helped students structure and communicate their work more effectively while supporting hands-on learning in robotics and engineering fundamentals.

Currently completing a Master’s degree in Automation, with academic and project work focused on intelligent systems, embedded systems, computer vision, and applied engineering. Throughout the program, I have developed both theoretical and practical knowledge in these technologies, with a strong interest in creating solutions that connect engineering concepts with real-world applications.

Completed a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a solid foundation in electronics, programming, systems, automation, and engineering problem-solving. Academic training was complemented by technical projects and extracurricular involvement, helping build a multidisciplinary perspective and a practical approach to engineering challenges.
