I had the opportunity to spend the summer at New York Life Insurance Company as a Finance Intern on the Insurance and Agency Expense Analytics team. I worked on multiple projects, but spent most of my time creating a headcount forecasting model for my team to help generate future monthly labor costs. Furthermore, I helped consolidate our run and grow expenses for the different projects and initiatives of New York Life creating a better sense of organization for my team. On a monthly basis, I helped analyze departmental expense reports to determine any material variances from the budget. I was also able to network with other individuals within the company daily and had the chance to learn more about the Life Insurance Industry and develop my professional skills. Some key competencies that I gained and will take with me in my future career from my experience at New York Life is being detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative.

I cash out customers and handle their money via cash, credit, or check. I bag their groceries and help them find any items they couldn't find. Also, I help around the store in other ways when the managers need help, like stocking the shelves or inventory.

As a manager, I oversee all employees and help train new ones. I help run the concession stand and assist with any problems customers or employees are having. I handle all of the money and count every cashier's drawer to make sure everything is balanced at the end of the day.
