I am currently working as a research technician at the Institute of Cellular Medicine, Newcastle University investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of kidney fibrosis. My role has been to carry out pre-clinical pathway / target validation work, principally using in vitro experimental approaches and a wide range of molecular and cell biology techniques, including: transfections, western blotting, immunofluorescence, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, RNA extraction and RT-PCR, as required. I have gained a lot of experience in data analysis and presentations, I constantly maintain detailed, up-to-date records of all work carried out. I must manage my time effectively and work independently on a day-to-day basis, but also work closely other members of the research team.
