My practice includes all aspects of private client work. This includes Court of Protection and elderly client work, such as advising on applications to the Court regarding deputyship appointments and widening of deputy's / attorney's powers to deal with an incapacitated person's assets, mental capacity issues, Lasting / Enduring Powers of Attorney and protection of assets for vulnerable beneficiaries. My general practice also includes advising on methods of mitigating inheritance tax and capital gains tax for both UK and non-UK domiciled individuals through lifetime gifts, onshore and offshore trusts and tax-efficient wills, together with advising on the administering of estates and trusts. I also advise on the establishment of new charitable structures, charity mergers and variations to charitable trusts.

I qualified into Private Client in September 2006 after completing my training contract with Wedlake Bell. Recent experience includes: - Advising on and making application to the Court of Appeal to re-consider test for capacity to marry. - Making an application to the Court of Protection for the appointment of deputies to manage an incapacitated individual's financial affairs, authority to set up pilot trusts and make gifts on behalf of incapacitated individual - Advising an offshore trust company on UK residence and tax issues in the light of it employing a UK resident agent to manage UK trust property; -Advising a UK resident Swiss national on ways to reduce his exposure to UK inheritance tax, to include the setting up of an offshore trust, before becoming deemed domiciled in the UK;
