AWS Cloud Senior Engineer Focus on Migrations to AWS from on-premise data centers. Designing\Architecting\Orchestration the new AWS Environments with Organisations and controls. Lift Shift Migrations and Re-Platform existing customer workloads into AWS. Transformations and Leveraging AWS Services and Tools during the migration process.

* Responsibilities: * · Maintaining over 50 SQL Servers at Insight Investment. * · Providing on call 24 x 7 support for the SQL Server environment. * · Migration of existing legacy SQL Server 6.5 and 7.0 applications to SQL Server 2000. * · Migration of existing legacy SQL Server 7.0\2000\2005 applications to SQL Server 2000. * · Developed and enhanced the SQL Server 2005\2008\2008 R2 standard guide for installation and configuration. * · Developed a centralised monitoring system that notified and recorded issues within the SQL Server environment. Thereby creating a proactive support role with the support of SQL Server. * · Developed a centralised monitoring system with SQL Server 2000 for business support applications removing the need of an expensive third party solution. * · Assisting developers with their development issues with SQL Server. * · Trouble shooting SQL Server security issues in the migration away from NT 4 domains to Active Directory. * · Identifying and resolving performance issues with SQL Server.

* Redesign and redevelop the existing company’s core financial analyst database into a self-sustainable and productive system. * · Managing and ensuring data extracts are correct and accurate and that external customers receive them within the contractual agreements. * · Supporting the company’s IT environment * · Troubleshooting issues within DTS packages * · Troubleshooting issues and developing new Excel Macros that retrieve data and generate reports from the company’s SQL Server databases. * · Developing archive processes to summarize and compress the company’s databases to ensure the data retrieval is efficient and relevant.

* For the past 9 months, working within UNSW to migrate application workloads into the AWS Cloud Platform. * Working within an Agile Framework * with a 2 week sprint cycle to identify workloads and migrate them to AWS with in an hybrid cloud approach. * Identify Application stakeholders and work with them to migrate their Applications to AWS. * Key Skills * Cloud formation with a focus on EC2, EBS, ELB, VPC and Subnet * integrating Opscode Chef with AWS * bootstrapping AMIs to conform with a UNSW SOE IT Environment. * Assisting developing a business case for moving to AWS Cloud services and understanding the challenges when confronted with large OnPremise IT Investment. * Configuring AWS Services for mutilple linked accounts such as AWS Config, Cloud Trail and VPC Flow Logs. * Migration on both Windows and Linux OS Platforms. * Migration to MS SQL RDS and understanding the limitations. * VMware VCenter Export\Import into AWS.

* Currently at UNSW IT and working as Tech lead on Microsoft SQL Server versions from 2005 to SQL 2014. * Key Tasks and Skills * Focus on SQL Always On and supporting the platform. * Performance tuning of SQL Server based applications. * Strategy and documentation guides for the DBA team in regards to SQL Server. * Integrating with Opscode Chef for Self Provisioning of SQL Server via CloudStack. * Providing AWS AMI and Cloud-formation Templates for the AWS Cloud Platform. * Providing Oncall Support for UNSW IT

* · Supporting and maintaining the Banks SQL Server databases to ensure availability and integrity * · Develop Access database solutions with SQL Server as the database repository system. * · Develop log shipping DR solutions with SQL Server 7.0\SQL 2000. * · Participation of the DR simulation for core SQL Server systems with the Bank. * Upgrading MS SQL Server 6.5 to SQL Server 7.0\SQL 2000.
