Vibhas Naik
Software Engineer 2 @ Microsoft
About
I am a skilled software developer with expertise in Programming, Software Architecture Design, Machine Learning, and Software Testing. At Columbia University, where I am a first-year MS student in the Computer Science Machine Learning track, I am learning to appreciate the theoretical aspects of Computer Science as I have focussed mainly on real-world implementation in my professional career up until now. Before joining Columbia University, I was working as a Design And Development Engineer at Siemens Healthineers with expertise mainly in Dicom Imaging. I spent my time at Siemens Healthcare working on implementing PACS services for modalities of US, XA, CT, and MR. I also got the opportunity to pursue certifications and training in advanced C++, object-oriented design, and software design patterns. Prior to Siemens Healthcare, I was working at Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions as an Associate Software Developer in the field of Industrial Automation. At the Robert Bosch Production plant, My job mainly revolved around enhancing the production quality and throughput of the plant. This was achieved by suggesting and implementing software solutions to reduce manual labor and cycle time. I developed intangible skills of Requirement Analysis, Roadmap formulation, Project Development, and Customer Communication during my stint at Robert Bosch. Languages: C/C++/C#, Python, HTML5, Javascript, SQL, PowerShell. Libraries: jQuery, ReactJS Frameworks: ASP.NET MVC, Windows Forms, WPF, WCF, Entity framework, TensorFlow, PyTorch, NUnit. Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB. Other Tools and Standards: Github, AWS EC2, TFS, DICOM, HL7 Medical Imaging standards.

Experience

Research Assistant
New York, New York, United States
I worked as a Research Assistant for the Internet Real-Time lab at Columbia University. I conducted my research on the attribute-based access control mechanism for IoT devices and achieved the following objectives. - Provide a framework for implementing complex authorization schemes such as geolocation-based authorization. - Implement a geolocation-based aggregate query to retrieve information about IoT devices from a distributed cloud setup. - Evaluated run time of various attributes of attribute-based authorization mechanism to publish results as part of a technical paper for INFOCOM 2022.

Experience at Siemens Healthineers
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
As a Design And Development Engineer at Siemens Healthcare, I was responsible for writing reliable code, implementing software architectural improvements, user-facing features, fixing defects, and optimizing the code for maximum performance. Some of my roles and responsibilities included: - Development of WCF Rest APIs in C#.NET such as long term image storage(Archiving), short term image storage (Cache), Image compression, and other PACS services. - Writing unit tests as well as integration tests in the NUnit framework for the APIs. - Manual Testing during the software testing phase to ensure the quality of the end product. - Mentoring of new joiners to the software development team.

Experience at Robert Bosch Engineering Solutions
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
At Robert Bosch Engineering Solutions, I worked on full-stack web development and windows development mainly in the programming languages of C# and C++. During the latter part of my career at Robert Bosch, I owned the development of software solutions in a two-member team for a diesel pump manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. Following are some of the key projects that I worked on at Robert Bosch. - Cut down the cycle time per production bench by 5 seconds by developing a C++ driver to read and write information from RFID Tags via RFID Reader. The solution was developed by interacting closely with Plant operators and RFID device vendors. - Reduced customer complaints of low displacement of Camshaft by 95% after developing a standalone application using WPF to measure the displacement of a camshaft. Application communicated with PLC devices to record the displacement. - Lessened the customer complaint of high torque by 75% after the deployment of a feedback mechanism to verify torque by establishing RS232 communication with an external Torque Reader. - Remodeled the existing efficiency management system by migrating from ASP.NET forms to ASP.NET MVC. The new system showed detailed reports of bench operators and reduced manual calculation by plant foreman by 100%.
